TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 35 Creative Prompt - I Am Treasured

Based on Exodus 19:4-6 - You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

As was said within the video, it's easy enough to read those words, but do we really believe it? Really take it in? So many times we put ourselves down; think we're not good enough...but Our Father really does treasure us.  

I know the lady doesn't look particularly joyful, but I wanted to portray the 'bigness' of this theme; this idea; this statement - we are treasured. To really appreciate and accept that sentiment is quite something to get our heads around!

The figure in the background is smaller and duller to give it less importance. I think there are times when most of us believe we're unworthy or need to work harder, so the despairing-looking figure has to be there but in no way prominent.

That''s how my piece evolved after watching the video anyway!

Based on Ephesians 2:10:
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Kept it simple and loved using the bright colours! Red is my favourite colour and yet I so rarely use it like this! The orange splat was actually a heart shape and I was a bit miffed when I made this piece that blending in the white meant I lost some of that side of the heart...but looking at it today with fresh eyes, I like it! It makes me feel that God's light is touching my heart!

I used an outline font so I could 'colour in' the letters..I deliberately made some go outside the lines to represent my sin and failures whilst acknowledging that I AM God's masterpiece!

TMD 2016 - DNA - February 12th, Week 7 - Creative Prompt - I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully MadeI tried to do this along the same lines as I would have had it not been digital. I started with a paper texture, added layers of water colour pinks in different tones, added the flowery hearts (or should that be hearty flowers?!), added the text (then decided to make it look like stickers!), then added the leafy sprinkles! It was fun to play! Thanks for the inspiration!

TMD 2016 - DNA - January Week 4 - Creative Prompt - I Am Chosen

My eldest daughter passed her driving test today, and decided to take my youngest daughter out shopping to celebrate! So I had an unexpected few hours to myself! The first thing I did, as it was around 3pm and still sunny, was to go and sit in my garden, under our big tree and listen to the birds singing whilst doing a little Bible study.

A bit later I decided to have a go at some art - I've not done any for a while as life has thrown some 'stuff' at us lately. It took a while but this is what I ended up with...the verse I was really drawn to was John 17:20-22 I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one.

I didn't want to use an image of a human..so went with the birds on a wire...with one flying away, soaring upwards, chosen. Obviously a day for nature today!

January Week 2 Creative Prompt - I Am Forgiven

My second piece for this prompt..attempting to imitate the glue gun technique, that Diane showed us, in digital. It wasn't easy! I tried a glass layer style but it just wasn't right and wasn't taking on enough of the background colours. It was too light also, and stood out too much from the piece. This is as good as I can get it, with a lot of playing and a lot of layers!! Not sure I even like it especially, LOL, but it stretched my brain trying to get it similar to the real thing!!

Take Me Deeper - January Week 2 - Creative Prompt - I Am Forgiven

I was up early this Saturday morning all set to have a good play in Photoshop for the January Week 2 Creative Prompt that went live Friday! I'd watched the videos already so was good to go! I decided to try Shonna's technique first - watch this space for how I manage to re-create the hot glue gun technique digitally, lol! I won't give up!!

January Week 2 Creative Prompt - I Am Forgiven

Working digitally I wanted to find a way to imitate the way Shonna created her background...took me a little playing but I think I did it! Had I had more time I'd have made the shapes more random.

For those who do digital, I used a brush, various sizes and angles, to create a mask, to which I clipped a paper, for a little texture, and then recoloured to make the blue. I duplicated the mask and recoloured the very bottom one a purple colour, which give the added tones around the edge of each piece of blue, like Shonna had.

I had to use smoke brush to give some gentle deepening of colour around the dandelion clock to make it stand out enough. Then the rest was the same - brushed on some white drops and gentle grunge around the edges and added the letters!

I did try a whole range of different colours for the overall piece but kept coming back to these for the feeling of forgiveness, happiness, and to continue the feel of flying free that I put into my Week 1 piece!

It was lovely to just sit and play and, although I knew how to recreate the technique digitally, it's not something I'd have done most likely without the prompt! Also, I decided to keep the image as it came and not digitally paint it, so at year end I will have a nice mixture of painted and not painted!
