Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 45 - 4th November
TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 45 - 4th November - I am Blessed to be a Blessing
Wonderful devotional that really made me think :)
I loved the passage from Rick Warren's book:
"The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose."
It seemed to me we sometimes need to get back to basics. Stop worrying about the big stuff and make sure we take care of the little things that can make such a difference to us all.
Matthew 10:29 came to mind: Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care.
Symbolically, feeding the birds is a small thing to do but has great impact when we do that! If we can perhaps free ourselves from worrying about the big things - or at least from letting those things take over our minds and hearts - and focus on little things we can do well with great love, everything else will follow.
I think perhaps the US election fever and the reactions that we can't seem to escape atm on social media and mainstream played a subconscious part in my thinking today! The results of a whole nation voting can't be changed and people seem to feel helpless, but there is a lot that we all can do in making the world a better place where we are. Let's just start there and see where we're led...? Be blessed by being a blessing to others.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 42, 21st October
Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 42, 21st October - I Am Victorious
I wanted to illustrate this verse:
Revelation 3:20-21 - Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
She's in the dark at present but about to open the door :)
This started as something completely different and evolved gradually. I was concerned it was a bit too Hallowe'enish until the final developments. Now - I hope - it looks more cosy and safe!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 41
TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 41, 7th October - In Union With The Lord
Based on Ephesians 6:10.
I always seem to find the imagery created by words such as 'armour' and 'sword' difficult, so I used verse 10 for inspiration: "Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power."
I wanted to portray a gentle, humble woman who at the same time walks with confidence, in strength, with the Lord.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - 16th September, Week 38 - You Are the Light of the World
TMD 2016 - 16th September, Week 38
In Matthew 5: 14 Jesus says,
“You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
I did start another piece that just would not work...then this came together so easily today...I didn't know why the peace and calm within the piece was important - until I went and re-read the devotional! I'd taken away an idea about being light in the world and had tried so hard to focus on that, but obviously, the resting, the not trying was what mattered!!
Hopefully, I've captured a feeling of just sitting and being, thinking about all the good things that are in us from Jesus.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 36 - 2nd September - I Am An Ambassador For God
Having read the devotional, I made this piece to represent the two verses:
2 Corinthians 5:18-20: All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 35 Creative Prompt
TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 35 Creative Prompt - I Am Treasured
Based on Exodus 19:4-6 - You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”
As was said within the video, it's easy enough to read those words, but do we really believe it? Really take it in? So many times we put ourselves down; think we're not good enough...but Our Father really does treasure us.
I know the lady doesn't look particularly joyful, but I wanted to portray the 'bigness' of this theme; this idea; this statement - we are treasured. To really appreciate and accept that sentiment is quite something to get our heads around!
The figure in the background is smaller and duller to give it less importance. I think there are times when most of us believe we're unworthy or need to work harder, so the despairing-looking figure has to be there but in no way prominent.
That''s how my piece evolved after watching the video anyway!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 34
Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 34 - I Am Royalty
I thought I'd have a go at using some of what I've been learning and practising in my Photoartistry Course for this week's piece! I may well do another in my usual 'style' for TMD, if time allows, but I'm pretty happy with this!

The piece is based on Exodus 19:4-6:
‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
I'm not a great lover of blur within a piece, but it seemed to work OK here on the hands. I wanted to portray a woman, looking pretty strong, but still finding her way. As we read in the devotional, about eagles flying beneath their young when they start to fly, to catch them if they falter, so the empty hands are showing she has started to 'fly', but has that protection, hands that once 'held' her, always there.

This is what I made to represent the words in 1 Peter 2:9-10:
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 31, 29th July
Take Me Deeper 2016 – DNA – Week 31, 29th July – Rewind
Looking back over our month of the theme of being heavenly citizens, I had two Bible verses I wanted to try to represent.
The first, John 3:3 - Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” I found a note which said that the Greek for again also means from above.
The second Bible verse was Philippians 3:20-21 - But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Seems like I'm always running behind - this past week my Aunt was on her annual 3 day leave from her Convent and staying with my parents - who don't drive, hence I was taxi for the week! Good to see her but the heat has been unbearable for me, so being stuck in traffic a lot of the time hasn't been such a good experience lol!
Anyway, this is my piece for the creative prompt! It 's very simple and pretty muted...more down to how I was feeling than any creative plan, I think lol!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 27, July 1st
His Kingdom Come - Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 27 - July 1st - I Am A Heavenly Citizen
Wow this took some hours! It has around 110 layers! It started of so dark and drab, lol, and ended up full of light! Another occasion when I am amazed at what appears on the screen in front of me!
I decided not to digitally paint this piece - the first one left unpainted this year - but I really didn't want to change a thing!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 25 - 17th June
TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 25 - I Am Adopted
Catching up again as I've been ill for about two weeks now! I hope I've encapsulated the theme and this verse inparticular:
1 Peter 2:9 - But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
This piece became a bit of a mish mash between straightforward digital art, with loads of texture and digital painting! Took a few hours but I enjoyed my first attempt after regaining some strength! Amazing how much what seems a simple cold/throat infection can actually affect you!

Well, I did intend and started off trying to create an art kinda DNA strand, as I loved the inspiration from the video, but somehow got sidelined into this!
I think it's summarising child of God, links to nature and all creation, DNA within us all...anyways, it took about 5 hours and has 70 layers! Off for some lunch now!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 21 - 20th May - I Am A New Creation
Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 21 - 20th May - I Am A New Creation
Well, I think I should take a break from my digital art more often lol! I've finished one incomplete piece today and produced two new pieces! I love this one! Had no idea it would come out like this!
I create the digital image first, and then digitally paint it. This is very different from the digital piece I first created, and honestly, I like both pieces, but wanted to try and keep to digitally painting my "official" pieces.
I wanted to continue the theme of a silhouetted figure but add in the feel of the Holy Spirit and regeneration. A new creation, filled with the Spirit, soaring! Hopefully I've achieved that with this piece!
I'm actually so pleased with this piece, lol I kept zooming out to look at the overall image as I was creating, as I just couldn't believe what was appearing lol!! I feel like a little kid again I'm so excited!!

This developed from being a silhouette with a scene of water, trees and birds within it, to this! No idea how or why it just came that way! I like the transition from paler colours to the more vibrant.
I used a different kind of digital brush to normal and had to take extra time on this to make that work, but I like it!
It feels to me that this is a good start to the month of May and the devotions about being a new creation!
