Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 21 - 20th May - I Am A New Creation

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 21 - 20th May - I Am A New Creation

Well, I think I should take a break from my digital art more often lol! I've finished one incomplete piece today and produced two new pieces! I love this one! Had no idea it would come out like this!

I create the digital image first, and then digitally paint it. This is very different from the digital piece I first created, and honestly, I like both pieces, but wanted to try and keep to digitally painting my "official" pieces.

I wanted to continue the theme of a silhouetted figure but add in the feel of the Holy Spirit and regeneration. A new creation, filled with the Spirit, soaring! Hopefully I've achieved that with this piece!

I'm actually so pleased with this piece, lol I kept zooming out to look at the overall image as I was creating, as I just couldn't believe what was appearing lol!! I feel like a little kid again I'm so excited!!

Thanks so much for the inspiration!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 19 - 6th May - I Am A New Creation

TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 19 - 6th May - I Am A New creation

This developed from being a silhouette with a scene of water, trees and birds within it, to this! No idea how or why it just came that way! I like the transition from paler colours to the more vibrant.

I used a different kind of digital brush to normal and had to take extra time on this to make that work, but I like it!

It feels to me that this is a good start to the month of May and the devotions about being a new creation!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 18 - 29th April - I Am in Christ

TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 18 - 29th April - I Am in Christ
For some reason I really struggled with the vine imagery! No idea why! Then my 91 year old Dad became ill and was rushed into hospital and so this piece was never finished, until today!

There wasn't any real thinking behind this piece...my only thoughts were the vine, without fruit - yet! - but it's a new vine, just growing towards the light. Asking the Holy Spirit to abide within.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - Week 12 - 18th March - I Am Alive in Him

TMD 2016 - DNA - Week 12 - 18th March - I Am Alive in Him

I really appreciated this devotional! It really brought it home to me just how far I've travelled in my journey of faith!

With this as my background I think it made the devotional that much more powerful for me. Which seemed to mean creating the art piece was going to be that much harder!

It's almost as if the "I am crucified with Christ" and the "I am alive in Him" are too important; almost unapproachable from an art perspective!

So I really had no idea how to go about this, other than sitting there with Photoshop open and praying! It looks a pretty simple piece, but the PS work before the digital painting was anything but! I still don't feel altogether happy with it. Something about it unsettles me almost, but despite trying and trying different things, nothing I do helps that!

Plus, despite deciding not to add words to these art pieces, this piece demanded to have the "It is finished" added to it. Such powerful words!

Maybe I'll revisit this piece at some stage in the future; perhaps after Easter Sunday. Maybe I won't! For now, I offer it as it is and acknowledge the impact it is having on me at this time of searching and coming to terms with such a lot. The power of those words, and yet the comfort of them also. It seems I'm always learning about this faith-art process!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - 5th February, Week 6 - I Am Made in the Image of God

Take Me Deeper - DNA - 5th February 2016 - I Am Made in the Image of God

I picked out the main things I wanted to show...glorifying God, honouring our Creator. I also wanted to show "His shadow - cast over us - giving the image, the resemblance of God the Father!" At first this seemed a bit impossible to portray!

Dark shadows just didn't work or feel right, so I played with light. It seemed to me that God's 'shadow' would be full of bright light rather than darkness; light which defines our image within the darkness. I also used the cross as another way to portray overshadowing and also to represent the price paid for us.

I bumped up the contrast using levels to really enhance the brightness and light of the piece, which spills over onto the girl, defining her, showing the Father's image to the world. She, in turn, gives honour and glory to God.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - January Week 5 - 29th January 2016 - Rewind

TMD 2016 – DNA - January Week 5 – 29th January 2016 – Rewind
Looking back at the pieces I’ve created in January, there seems to be an additional common thread of “freedom” running through them all illustrated by birds. A bird illustrating the person being chosen, a bird among others who decides to fly free; chosen and flying towards its Maker, birds around the Cross, flying free, knowing that sins will be forgiven and feeling the love

of their Father.

This wasn’t a conscious thing while I was creating, and I didn’t refer back or think hard to keep a theme going through my art! So I want to ponder this a little and look a little deeper at what message this is giving me! I’m thankful for this rewind week! Until this morning when I decided to think about a piece of art to create to sum up the month of January, I was thinking of it more as a week when I’d not have much to say or to portray. How wrong was that lol?! Now I’ve looked properly at what I’ve created – been led to create – my brain is buzzing!

My first thought when realising about the birds being present in each piece was Matthew 6:26 - Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
No matter what we look like – birds come in all shapes and colours, some more beautiful than others to our eye at least, and some considered more interesting, more important than others. Yet they are all fed and cared for by the Father. So with us, and more. No matter what we look like, inside and out, our Father cares for us. No matter what mistakes we make, nor how we see ourselves, He is always there with his powerful love!
I think this is what my rewind piece is trying to portray (as always, when I started, I had no clue what would appear!). I used a black crow, a bird often seen as dark, brooding, even ugly, to represent we who perhaps see ourselves as less that desirable, being chosen to 'fly' free with the other - white - birds who already know they are chosen and are experiencing the fullness of a life with God.
Isaiah 1:18 - though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Romans 5:8 - but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So we are free to come as we are, acknowledging our sins, our faults, our issues, and, even as such people, so far from perfect of course, God shows His love for us. We are not just accepted, we are chosen. Knowing that we are so loved and cared for can provide us with a life of freedom and peace, free from worry, living in love.
John 17:20-22 I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one.

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - January 15th - Chosen by God

As I sit here writing this post, the wind is howling outside and there is a chance of snow! My daughters and I stayed up rather late last night to see if the snow previously promised for the early hours of Friday materialised! Had it started to fall, my youngest daughter and I would have been out in the garden taking photos lol! Can you tell it's a rare event nowadays that we get snow in my part of the UK?!

Sadly the snow didn't come so we went to bed hoping for a nice surprise when we woke. I overlaid of course, but was still up by 6.15am, but alas, no snow still!
So hubby and I sit and have a quiet coffee with the wind howling and the temperature a lot colder than of late and prepare to face the day. I'm still hoping for even just a little sprinkling of snow though!!
Take Me Deeper - DNA - 15th January 2016 - Chosen By God
I love Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Also John 15:16 - You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit - fruit that will last - and so that whatever you ask in my name the father will give you.
I hope this piece gives a feel of being chosen, appointed! I've decided to stick with the digital painting as long as it works out and I have the time. This piece really wanted to be yellowy lol! I tried to make it more red but it wasn't having it!

Take Me Deeper - DNA - 1st January 2016!

OMW! I can't believe it's the New Year already! I've had a new PC for Christmas and the setting up of that this week has distracted me from uploading my page for TMD-DNA 1st January in advance! Oh well, I'm here now and with a PC that is fully functioning thankfully!

Take Me Deeper 2016 - DNA - 1st January 2016 - Chosen by God

Somehow I ended up digitally painting this piece again, although I was torn between the precision of the original piece I created and the freer style achieved by the painting!

Not sure there was any thinking behind this piece, more a feeling; instinct. I think it's representing freedom - flying free - knowing we are accepted for who we are, and loved for that person we are. Lots of red for love and dove and a wispy trail for the Holy Spirit in action!
