I wanted to represent a feeling of sadness, mourning, and waiting, yet with hope, and used one of my own photos for the basis of this piece.

Lent 2016 - Maundy Thursday - 24th March
Lent 2016 - Day 44 - 24th March - Maundy Thursday
I had a real feel I should be creating two pages this morning - a tall order for the time I had available!
The verses that tell about what happened in the Garden of Gethsemane always touch me, so I wanted to do a piece representing that. Although I haven't been Church organist for almost two years now, nor a member of the original Church Choir for several years, the words of this Francesca Leftley hymn always come to mind - they're so moving...
My soul is sad, my heart is breaking tonight
Could you not watch and comfort me until light?
Am I alone, surrounded only by night?
Could you not watch one hour with me?
Could you not keep awake for one hour with me?
Is it so hard that you should do this for me?
I die for you that you might always be free.
Could you not watch one hour with me?
And so I weep, and there is no-one to hear,
I am in pain; will no-one witness my tears?
I am your God, and as my passion draws near,
Could you not watch one hour with me?
But in contrast to the sadness, I also wanted to make a more positive feeling piece! The new Commandment of love was what really stood out to me so here we have it!

Lent 2016 - Day 42 - 22nd March
Lent 2016 - Day 42 - 22nd March
Bit late posting this piece! Busy day yesterday, what with taking my niece to school, and looking after my sister-in-law, spending time with my parents and then a good few hours in the garden, pruning and tidying! The weather was beautiful though, so it was just not on to sit indoors when all that warmth and sunshine was on offer! Sitting quietly and listening to all the birds, looking at all the different plants bursting into flower...priceless!

I felt really drawn to the dull grey colours this morning! One change of a blending mode and there they were! It just felt right!

I like to see the grey and darkness as being forced back by the light. The beginnings of colours appearing as the tears being dried and the light and full joy of our Lord coming to His people. Not such a dreary piece after all then?!

Lent 2016 - Day 35 - 15th March
Lent 2016 - Day 35 - 15th March
Wow this piece went through some transformations! This took double the time I usually allow myself, but I had to keep going until it felt right!
It started off as a black and white piece, then I was going to add just a splash of colour, then I decided it was too dark, so decided to go full colour, lol! As usual, a random adjustment, an inversion of one of my textures, led to the shades I liked and then the rest flowed!
These verses really tugged at the heart today...such beautiful writing...

Today is my parents' Golden Wedding Anniversary! 50 years ago today there was snow as they were married...just as it snowed the morning my hubby and I were married, in April 1988! Dad is 91 now and we're so glad we can all celebrate this Anniversary together!

I never ceased to be amazed! I was really short on time this morning before having to take my niece to school and then my hubby to a medical appt. before setting off out with my mum and youngest daughter to make some preparations for mum and dad's Golden Wedding Anniversary on Saturday..!

I prayed that I'd be able to at least make a start on this piece...and here it is finished, lol!
I started out with the intention of keeping these pieces simple and I think I got away from that a tad in the middle, which is fine when I have the time! Today I didn't but I still finished! I'm so thankful, as I don't feel right if my piece isn't finished before my day starts!

Today I woke up to wind, rain and a sky that doesn't seem to want to get fully light! It made me want to create a light and bright piece for today - "His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning" - beautiful!

This morning, I intended to create my art piece for Lent and then move on to the Good Morning Girls' Study of Mark. But our central heating had different ideas, typically, and the time I had has gone now. Still, let's see what the day brings...I may discover a little snippet of time that I can claim for myself!
